June 7th, also with the Canucks in the playoffs, I was quoted in The Globe and Mail about how Canuck’s “gear” was now in women’s sizes and colors. It includes the idea that “when you learn it’s just not bulky guys with husky bodies, but that you actually have female fans, there are to things you could do. You could ignore them because you want to continue to portray big, bad boys, or you could realize that they are a very legitimate fan base, and that they have credit cards, too, and you’d like them to be part of your franchise. In December 2010, the wonderful work by my students at UBC Marketing course 468, a course applying marketing principles to real businesses, was written up as a feature story on the Sauder School of business site because of its work with businesses not just in Vancouver but throughout the province of BC. I was particularly proud of the students for embracing a multitude of communication types and the challenges of working remote in this class – with outstanding results for Kiwanis Enterprise Centre in Dawson Creek (link currently not working) and Island Labs in Courtenay
